Neighbor to Neighbor
First Presbyterian of El Cajon’s Neighbor-to-Neighbor program
As followers of Jesus Christ and in acknowledgement of God’s charge to love our neighbors, the mission of First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon is to establish and maintain caring relationships with our neighbors in the surrounding community, both directly and through other community-based groups; to participate in community service projects, to serve as a community resource center; and, in doing so, seek to understand and meet the needs of our neighbors.
Circle Community Garden has plots available now!
Circle Community Garden brings community together in order to grow nutritionally rich vegetables affordably. It is a wonderful way to meet others in the community for social times, gives you a chance to work outside and get beneficial exercise, is a great way to teach children where food comes from and to learn to work the soil, provides a means of meeting others in the community.
Community gardeners and their children eat healthier diets than do non-gardening families. Exposure to being outside and gardening reduces stress and increases a sense of wellness and belonging.
This is a combined project with Frist Presbyterian of El Cajon and St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. The garden is located at 476 Highland Avenue, El Cajon 92020. For information, or if you are interested in having your own garden space, email CircleGardenEC@aol.com or call 619-442-2583

On the third Saturday morning of every month, a small group of people from our church picks up trash along a 2 mile section of business Highway 54/Jamacha Rd. Our stretch covers the area between Grove Rd. and Calle Albara and, it is a very safe area. We divide up into two groups so, you only have to walk a mile and, it only takes about 45 minutes. Not only is this a fantastic way to provide a service to our community but, it’s also a wonderful time of fellowship. We have even had people who are driving or walking by thank us for what we are doing. If you are interested in participating, please contact the church office first as there is a mandatory training video you must watch before you can participate. We will supply you with a hard hat, a vest, gloves, goggles, pickers and bags. It’s an uplifting way to start your day so, come out and join the fun!
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
