SERVE

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.”

- Matthew 5:16, The Message

God is active among us and our community, and we are committed to living out our faith through meaningful service for one another, our neighborhood, and throughout the world. Inspired by Micah 6:8, “Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God,” and compelled by Christ’s love, we engage service in formal and organic ways.

Church programs and neighborhood partnerships offer strategic and focused ways to give our time, special abilities, and resources. But we are also attentive to the everyday, spontaneous movements of the Spirit. We believe small gestures matter — like kindness to a stranger, dropping off dinner for a friend, speaking out against injustice instead of being silent, or helping a neighbor in crisis — in ushering in Jesus’ reign.

Volunteer At Church

Everyone has a gift to share! From painting to planting, offering a warm smile as an usher, serving as a liturgist (a reader in our worship service), volunteering with our children, ringing bells, or stuffing envelopes, your service is welcome and valued. We help people serve in their areas of interest and passion, attentive to sustainable rhythms as they give of their time and talents.

Local Partnerships

We are struck by the call of Jesus to “feed the hungry and clothe the naked.” We are learning how to live out Jesus’ call to identify, challenge, and change the systems of injustice in our world, and participate in God’s Kingdom here on earth. Local ministries with Bethlehem Pantry, Welcome Ministry, and our shared Circle Community Garden with Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church are our starting place. From donated food and financial gifts, to committed prayer and getting your hands dirty, your help is welcome!

International Partnerships

In Acts 1:8, Jesus says to the disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Our three missionary partners have deep ties to the local community and our congregation. We feel honored to support the proclamation of the gospel and the holistic care for the least of these.
